Simple Tools, Simple Truths

There’s an old home fix-it joke that says that to take care of your house, you only ever need two tools.  One is WD-40, for if it’s supposed to move and doesn’t.  The other is Duck tape, if it moves too much and you need it to stay put.

This joke gets to the fundamental concept underlying Taoist thought and the practice of Qigong.  There are only two “tools” — movement and stillness, Yang and Yin.  To take care of your body, and your Heart, the “house” of your Spirit, you need to use movement and stillness.

For optimal health and spiritual growth, you need enough Qi, or life force, and it needs to flow freely through you. We use precise movements to support the free and smooth flow of Qi through your energy body, and we use standing postures to quiet the mind, connect to Nature, and gather Qi in.

Because Yin and Yang cannot be separated, in Qigong practice, there is always movement in the stillness, and stillness in the movement.  Cultivating this dynamic balance can make powerful and profound changes in your health and life.
